I spent last winter trudging though the Philadelphia snowy streets in my Sketchers. Never again. This year, I’m preparing for winter early with these options:
The Allen Edmonds Bayfield. it’s not the most attractive boot for its high retail price. And it doesn’t age well. Search eBay for a used pair and see what I mean.
Grenson’s “Fred”. Leave it to a British bookmaker to provide what I would expect from Allen Edmonds. Tasteful bragging on a wingtip. But with a leather lining, I’m not sure they’re suitable for winter.
The “Bean Boot” from L.L. Bean. The front-runner is a proven commodity, and it’s affordable. Valet has a blog post on keeping them looking sharp throughout the winter months. Unless I find something between now and October that blows me away, I’ll be buying these.
